The Valdez Snowmachine Club is a non-profit
organization re-instated in 1993. The club has existed since the
1970's. Our club consists of the general membership and 14 board
members. The board meets the second Monday of every
month, usually at 7 p.m. at the Aspen Hotel. The meetings
are open to all club members.
The mission of the Valdez Snowmachine Club is to
promote family winter recreation with an emphasis on safety. Our goal
is to increase local and statewide awareness of the level of
unbeatable riding experiences available in Valdez. We also want to add
value back into the community via a positive economic impact.
The Valdez Snowmachine Club strives to support the
community with family friendly events.
We hope to fulfill that goal by coordinating local events such as Sno-X
races, Valdez Mayor Cup race, and Valdez Mountain Man Hill Climb.
We are also committed to providing safety awareness
skills to riders through our Search and Rescue program. The club hopes
to provide a variety of training which includes: Avalanche
Awareness, Search
& Rescue, Teen Safety Classes, Basic Rider Safety course,
Helicopter Evacuation, Crevasse Rescue, Glacier travel, GPS-Map &
Compass navigation and a Field Rescue exercise course.
The Valdez Snowmachine Club continues to help develop
the trails around Valdez. It is important for all riders, regardless
of experience or technical knowledge to have safe and enjoyable places
to ride. Through all of our club sponsored events we hope to provide
activities that will encourage all riders to join the Valdez
Snowmachine Club, as well as increase awareness about the sport.
The Valdez Snowmachine Club wants to be a valuable part of this
community.
